This collection is a group of television shows from the sub-genre of Korean Television called Kdrama or Korean Drama. I've made this collection to showcase Korean culture, language, and their great television industry (based on production, script, set, H+M and SPFX). This collection is about awareness, understanding and respect.

1. Beating Again

Beating Again is a romance kdrama centered around Min-Ho, a corporate business man who gets a heart transplant and falls in love with the organ donor's fiance. This drama has one of the best character developments from both of the male leads I've seen - the character you trust, turns out to be behind everything all along. It's both a romance and a murder mystery, as you spend most of your time deciding who killed Soon-Jung's fiance (oops SPOILER) and why. I love this drama because the acting in this show blew me away - its a lot more than an average day on Shortland Street. I felt the male lead's performance extremely moving, sometimes he'd cry and I'd find myself bawling my eyes out. Bring you tissues for this one.

P.S: Some dramas have multiple titles! This drama is also called 'Falling for Innocence' so don't be alarmed, it's the same show :)

2. W

Yup you read right. This kdrama is literally called 'W'. The story is about a webtoon (Think online comic book), based on main character Kang Chul's life as an olympic shooter, who has been framed for the murder of his whole family. Oh Yeon Joo is a surgeon in the "real world" who can become stuck in the webtoon. This drama by nature really complex and exhilarating. The SPFX are incredible as our characters jump between a fictional and real world, all the while we as the audience, along with Kang Chul and Oh Yeon Joo are trying to figure out how and why this is happening and who is playing God.

3. Goblin

This kdrama came highly recommended to me by a friend and after watching it, I can see why. The acting in this drama will leave you shooketh. Kim Shin is a Goblin (although he isn't green, covered in warts or have big ears), who's been cursed to live forever. To end his curse, he must find the women destined to be his bride and only she can kill him. So it's a bit of a toughie having to kill your husband and that's what makes this drama so thrilling. I don't want to spoil too much more for you but let me just say there is this one scene toward the end of the drama with our leading lady on the top of a high rise building and it is the most heart-wrenching scene that she performs all by herself, her talent still blows me away.

4. Bride of the Water God

As the title suggests, this fantasy kdrama centres around a Water God named Ha-baek. To assume the throne in his world, he must travel to the human world to find a precious stone - needed to make him King - with the help from So-ah, a women whose family have been fated to serve the Water God since the beginning. This drama has epic SPFX (I mean, who else can jump out of a high-rise building and float in a sphere of water while still looking badass?) and twists you wouldn't imagine. Did I mention its a bit of a comedy? This kdrama has it all.

5. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

My latest accomplishment, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo is a kdrama focusing on our main character Hae-Soo, who travels back in time to the Goryeo dynasty in Korea (bit of a culture and history lesson for ya'll) where she is thrown quite literally into the deep end - you'll get it later - and into someone else's body! This is a drama that grows on you over time, I didn't know how I felt about it at first but in the end I loved it. It has that Game of Thrones vibe, the people you love die and nothing ever works out the way you wish it too. Don't get discouraged though, it's still an awesome drama and a must watch.

6. Missing Nine

Missing Nine is a murder mystery kdrama surrounding around nine people (are you surprised?), including Korean celebrities and their staff. The 9 were travelling to a charity concert before their plane crashes, leaving them on a deserted island. 4 months later, a stylist from the crash washes up in Korea with no memory about what happened after they crashed, who's alive or who is dead. This drama stands out to me because of its authenticity, the entire thing was filmed on an island and the minimal but incredible use of SPFX is breathtaking and effective. The production team went above and beyond with this film. So give this drama a watch, and uncover the secrets, ordeals and treachery that occur in Missing Nine.

*Side note: One of the only kdramas on this list that isn't romance heavy.

P.S: Here is a funny summary I found in gifs of each of our nine characters

7. One More Happy Ending

OMHE follows four gal pals who back in the day were apart of a first-gen girl group. Now in their 30's and each living very different lives, this kdrama watches these ladies through the next phase in their lives: marriage, love, children and divorce. A soundtrack that'll make you want to boogy, this is a feel-good kdrama about growing up, friendship and finding love. It's also pretty funny, so why wouldn't you watch it?

8. I'm Not A Robot

Min-Kyu has a deathly allergy to people. When he hears about a robot that is very similar to a human, he hires it to spend time with him. Little does he know the robot had had a malfunction, and so the inventors sent in a real girl to play his robot (notably Hair + Make-up in this show is top notch). Obviously we can see some issues with this and that's what makes it interesting! This kdrama will have you at the edge of your seat, it may also have you wanting to purchase an umbrella thats changes transparency - but that's all I can tell you for now.

9. Descendants of the Sun

This next kdrama is quite a popular one at that. Also coming highly regarded, this action packed romance is about Mo-Yeon, a Doctor who gets caught up with Shi-Jin, captain of the South Korean Special Forces. Both must face their differences if they want to work together on their mission in Uruk. This drama is filled with blood, guns and laughs, and lets not forget some awesome nicknames for your favourite characters (you'll get it later). So if you like an action packed drama then this one is for you. Big Boss, out.

P.S: The two lead actors in this kdrama recently got married, awww isn't that cute ^.^

10. Cruel City

Also known as Heartless City, this is one mad crime drama. Shi-Hyun is "Doctor's Son," the head honcho of a medium sized drug cartel. His childhood love was shot while trying to take him in (she was a cop) and now her younger sister Soo-Min is training at the police academy so she can take Shi-Hyun down, her sister's believed murderer. Two characters with problems of their own - one more life threatening than the other - will face off in this dark drama. In a city filled with drugs, bad guys and lies, who's going to come out on top? Also note that sometimes knives and other weapons in this show may be blurred out! This is because in South Korea some weapons on television are censored. In this cruel city, you can't trust anyone.

*Notably the only other drama where romance plays a small part
